Before the Southwest Research Center hosts its annual field day this weekend at the farm outside Mount Vernon, they’ll welcome student groups from around the region Friday. Superintendent David Cope says the groups will come from about 50 high schools and community colleges, with students receiving an opportunity to see ag research first-hand.
Cope says several research projects take place on the farm annually. The projects not just involve students in the University of Missouri’s agriculture programs, but also Lincoln University, Missouri State University, and others.
Superintendent David Cope says while Friday’s Ag Education Day at Southwest Research Center is just for school groups, Saturday’s annual field day is open to the public. More information is available on the center’s website or by calling the center in Mount Vernon at 417-466-2148.
